Charles Darwin is famous for developing the idea of evolution which then became a theory. He was a normal naturalist with a lot of curiosity. Charles Darwin gave a lot of hints and clues into the idea of evolution, so later on other scientist were able to continue his work. Even though Darwin created the theory he wasn't the first ones to find out about evolution.
Charles Darwin was born in England. He was born in a city called Shrewsbury on February 12, 1809. When Charles Darwin went on the 5 year survey voyage which was around the world (HMS Beagle) led to the idea of evolution. While he was on his trip his studies and specimens pushed Charles Darwin to think evolution had actually happened.
Charles Darwin graduated from a school called "Christ's college". Darwin had graduated college with a bachelor of arts. When Charles Darwin was in college he had a professor named "Steven Henslow" which eventually became his mentor. Henslow saw the intelligence of Charles Darwin and recommended him a place as a naturalist on the HMS Beagle. The HMS Beagle was a trip that went around the world for 5 years. This was an amazing start for a young naturalist like Darwin.
During the trip of HMS Beagle Darwin was able to find specimens that were natural, for examples birds and fossils. Since Darwin was able to have a hands on experiment he was able to see and study the items more accurately. The Island that really caught Darwins attention was the Galapagos Archipelago Island. Darwin studied the species of animals all over the world very closely and noticed that they were all pretty similar in some way. This led Darwin to think all these species had a common ancestor they had come from. He came up with an idea called "Natural Selection" which means species change through the environment they live in. Darwin believed that the species all changed from a common ancestor due to climate change and the environment they live in. He thought the species that adapt to the changed environment faster has a better chance of surviving and reproducing.
After the interesting finding he had discovered he continued to study about natural selection and how all speices had evolved. But sadly Darwin wasn't able to find proof or evidence through his theory. Darwin spend quite amount of time trying to find the evidence but died on April 19, 1882
